Update: The new "From Pale Hands to Weary Skies" album is going to be released August 12th, 2008!
The entire album From Pale Hands To Weary Skies was recorded using Reason 3.0 which has been described as "a self-contained synth studio system" and a Kurzweil K2000 synthesizer. Both Jourdan and Jon were able to contribute musical ideas via the Internet using the same software. We simply emailed files back and forth which is pretty cool considering I live in California while Jourdan lives in Wisconsin and Jon lives in England.
From Pale Hands To Weary Skies is truly an international collaboration.
Jourdan Laik is featured on two tracks playing synthesizers and Jon Short of The Deep Sky Divers plays keyboards and synthesizer on two tracks as well. The rest of it is just me.
The albums original concept has it's roots inspired by the art of Yves Tanguy. However during the beginning phases of it's creation I became deathly ill with a liver abscess and bacterial pneumonia which landed me in the Intensive Care Unit comatose for 6 days. My wife worked tirelessly by my side, as I lay obliviously incapacitated, keeping the hospital staff on their toes in order to bring me back to some degree of health. After my release from the hospital I began a slow rehabilitation process which included moments of intense inspiration. Before my illness the recording process was slow and tedious but after the illness it was as though the floodgates had been blown wide open and the music became incredibly easy to write. Track after track, song after song the album just came together as though it were writing itself. My wife, whom I dedicate this music to, and the support of many of my family and friends created such emotional fuel for this music that I feel it is my best work to date.
